No doubt Firefox is the World Best Browser due to suitability of many Addons and Plugins.It is already optimized browser but today i will tell you How to optimize Firefox to run 4 times faster than before.You should shifts to Firefox if you using Internet Explorer for better experience of browsing.You can download latest version of Firefox here.
Modify Your Settings
To change these settings just open a New tab(ctrl+t) and type about:config
in Your Address Bar/URL bar and hit enter.You will be given a Warning just proceed to that saying I will be careful,I promise.
Just copy and paste the preferences name in filter bar and double-click over it to modify it.If it’s of Boolean type it will be changed with double-click from true to false and if it’s of Integer type the value will be shown just write there the modified values according to its preferences.
browser.history_expire_days_minchange to 10 (default: 90)This helps performance of firefox by minimising the amount of information that must be kept in memory while the browser is running.Read More About it.
browser.sessionhistory.max_total_viewerschange to 1 (default: -1)It limits the most number of pages stored in memory in such a way that they don’t have to be re-parsed when pressing Back and Forward. If you don’t use back and forward button then it will be no reason to firefox to keep this.Read More About it.
network.http.max-connectionschange to 100 (default: 30)The total number of HTTP connections the application can run make is limited by this preference.Read More About it.
network.http.max-connections-per-serverchange to 20 (default: 15)Same as above but per server. Should not be set higher than 20 Read More About it.
network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-serverchange to 8 (default: 6)This preference takes values between 1 and 255 inclusive, directly corresponding to the maximum number of HTTP keep-alive connections the application can have open at once to a single server and can be used for Multiple Requests.Read more About it.
network.http.pipeliningchange to true (default: false)In HTTP 1.1, multiple requests can be sent before any responses are received. This is known as pipelining. Pipelining minimises network load and can reduce web page loading times, but not all servers support it.Read More About it .
network.http.proxy.pipeliningchange to true (default: false)If a proxy server is enabled, this preference controls whether to attempt to use pipelining with the proxy server or not.Read more About it.
network.http.pipelining.maxrequestschange to 8 (default: 4)It specifies the maximum number of requests to pipeline at once when pipelining is enabled.Maximum value of it is 8. Read more About it.
network.http.request.max-start-delaychange to 0 (default: 10)It define the maximum Number of seconds keep-active connections must wait before they are allowed to go beyond the maximum.Read more About it.
network.prefetch-nextchange to false (default: true)Link prefetching is when a webpage suggest to the browser that particular pages are likely to be visited, so the browser downloads them instantly so they can be displayed just after it when the user requests it. It controls if link prefetching is enabled or not.Read more About it .
Settings has to be Created
To create new settings right click on white space and click new.
config.trim_on_minimizeas new boolean with value of trueThis preference determines whether to allow Windows to swap out memory from a minimized Mozilla application. Read more About it.
nglayout.initialpaint.delaycreate as new integer with value of 100 (default: 250)The number of milliseconds to wait before first displaying the page.Lower values will make a page at the start display more quickly, but will make the page take longer to finish executing. large values will have the opposite effect.This preference does not exist by default,user have to create this. Other Useful Settings
browser.tabs.tabMinWidthchange to 70 (default 100)You also often have a lot of tabs open? This setting will decrease the minimum width of the tab so that more fits in before you need to scroll to see more tabs.Read more About it.
Remove Unwanted Addons
Addons also sometime minimize browser speed and performance.So,better is remove the unwanted extensions that you not using.Don’t forget to check here the list of Problematic extensions and either remove or disable them while not using.
Check Your History Settings
Now,reduce the number of days firefox remember history.The more you track the browsing the more memory it will use.So better it to remember history for less number of days to optimize firefox more.Change this by going to Tools—->Options—->Privacy—->History. OR you can manually remove history by clicking Remove Recent history in that window.
