Due to MegaUpload shut down last week FileSonic -one of the best popular file-sharing services, has disabled its sharing functionality,leaving users to access their own files.

According to a note posted on the site’s home page-The service can “only be used to upload and retrieve files you have uploaded personally.According to CNet it also suspended its affiliates rewards program, which paid users when people downloaded their files.
Megaupload was a popular file sharing service that allowed users to upload files and share them with other users. The FBI charges on the Megaupload website last week when seven of the company’s top personnel were charged with conspiracy. The 72-page condemnation claims that Megaupload willfully distributed pirated movies and other copyright-infringing content.
While there is no official explanation for the sudden change by the site, but some users blame the MegaUpload action for creating an atmosphere of fear in the file-sharing community.FileSonic isn’t also-ran in the world of cyberlockers. The site is among the top 10 file-sharing sites on the Internet, with a quarter billion page views a month.
However FileSonic also responds to takedown requests issued under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) by removing pirated content and blocking users who repeatedly violate it. The company has a designated DMCA agent and provides instructions for submitting a claim. They also allow individual users to report abuse -added by Arstechnica.

Sad to hear that. MegaUpload is just a file sharing company, if they’re guilty of piracy because people used their servers to share files illegally, then the City of New York is guilty of dealing drugs because people used their streets to do it. Looks like they don’t need SOPA/PIPA anymore !

I have downloaded lots of files from MegaUpload & fileSonic. But this anti-piracy act makes huge trouble in all these uploading sites. I feel shocked about USA SOPA & PIPA policy. CIA & FBI deleted all data of MegaUpload before the act authorized
