After filling of $5 billion IPO,The World’s most popular social networking site -Facebook is now expanding its revenue sources.And this time their focus on Mobile devices to show Advertisement And they had already finalised proposals with Advertising Agencies for displaying ‘Featured Stories’ in news feed -According to a Financial Times Report.These sponsored ‘Featured Stories’ likely to start appearing on mobile Apps from March,ahead of its IPO due in May.
The giant site has 845 million users across the world and half of its users access the site via mobile devices.After filling of IPO,they have pointed out mobile users could be its major source of Revenue rather than PCs.As they also said on last week of IPO filling that they are not making much of it’s income from mobile devices.They said-
We do not currently directly generate any meaningful revenue from the use of Facebook mobile products, and our ability to do so successfully is unproven. Accordingly, if users continue to increasingly access Facebook mobile products as a substitute for access through personal computers, and if we are unable to successfully implement monetization strategies for our mobile users, our revenue and financial results may be negatively affected.
However,its tricky to place ads on mobile version of the site due to limited screen space and this may push away the users from the site.
