Microsoft Corp. today announced the availability of the Windows 8 Release Preview.
Windows 8 Consumer Preview available for download today in 14 languages at Preview Windows, the Windows 8 Release Preview delivers a fast and fluid experience with new Apps.Since the launch of Consumer Preview in Feb,and was downloaded more than 1 million times in the first 24 hours, it has become the most tested Microsoft operating system of all time.
According to a Blog post on Windows Team Blog :
“Windows 8 will be offered in four editions: Windows 8, Windows 8 Pro, Windows and Windows 8 Enterprise RT. And standard version of “Windows 8″ will contain an updated Windows Explorer, a new task manager, better support for using multiple monitors and the ability to switch languages on the fly”
System Requirements For Windows 8 Consumer Preview
- Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster
- RAM: 1 gigabyte (GB) (32-bit) or 2 GB (64-bit)
- Hard disk space: 16 GB (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
- Graphics card: Microsoft DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM driver
- To use touch, you need a tablet or monitor that supports multitouch.
- To access Windows Store and to download and run apps, you need an active Internet connection and a screen resolution of at least 1024 x 768.
- To snap apps, you need a screen resolution of at least 1366 x 768

Microsoft didn’t announced the date for releasing Windows 8 but according some sources it will be available in October in the year ahead 🙂
